Assessment & IRB Research
Program assessment is excluded from IRB review since it does not meet the definition of research. The Code of Federal Regulations found at 45 CFR 46.102 (d) defines research in part as contributing to generalizable knowledge. Program assessment per se does not meet this definition.
If there is a plan to disseminate or publish data beyond the use for assessment or accreditation then it will be necessary to submit a protocol to OPRS for review.
