The University does not have specific requirement for the look and content of a particular course’s syllabus. Departments and programs may have such requirements, so it is good practice to find out what the requirements are. Each semester, the Provost issues a list of informative items that need to be attached to each course’s syllabus, either in print or online. The information is usually mailed to department Chairs and program Directors for distribution to their faculty. The information is also posted on the Provost’s web site at: http://provost.unlv.edu/policies.html (scroll down to “syllabus”). In most courses, the format and content of the syllabus are left to the instructor. To assist instructors with the construction of effective syllabi, the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) provides special guidelines. They can be found at:
